How many times have you enter to a building just to find out that it takes you forever to find the office you need?
Nokia has published research which its findings show that ‬ people who enter into buildings, “wasting” in there ‭ 90% of their time looking for the right place.

GPS nevigationWell, all familiar navigation devices perform only outdoors, where there is a way to communicate with  satellites in space. Another problem is that the accuracy of the civilian GPS versions is about 10 to ‭ 30 – ‬ meter. This fluctuation make it impossible to rely on.

Nokia, in collaboration with several leading universities, develop navigation program for indoors to help us easily find the car we left in the parking lot, to get to the right store in a shopping center within seconds, or rush to the right gate at the airport.

The idea is to use wireless Internet access point in the building, and the exact location will be calculated by the cell-phone accordance to the distance from the nearest access point. Nokia runs the system on ‭ 40 – ‬ buildings in the world, including shopping centers, airports and universities – all with existing wireless acces points.

The new development, will be integrated into Nokia Cell- Phones and probably will change the area of location-based services (LBS) which is the main lines of growth of cellular marketing.
