Nevigation Inside Buildings

Posted by admin on Jan 12, 2009 in Cellular, GPS

How many times have you enter to a building just to find out that it takes you forever to find the office you need?
Nokia has published research which its findings show that ‬ people who enter into buildings, “wasting” in there ‭ 90% of their time looking for the right place.

GPS nevigationWell, all familiar navigation devices perform only outdoors, where there is a way to communicate with  satellites in space. Another problem is that the accuracy of the civilian GPS versions is about 10 to ‭ 30 – ‬ meter. This fluctuation make it impossible to rely on.

Nokia, in collaboration with several leading universities, develop navigation program for indoors to help us easily find the car we left in the parking lot, to get to the right store in a shopping center within seconds, or rush to the right gate at the airport.

The idea is to use wireless Internet access point in the building, and the exact location will be calculated by the cell-phone accordance to the distance from the nearest access point. Nokia runs the system on ‭ 40 – ‬ buildings in the world, including shopping centers, airports and universities – all with existing wireless acces points.

The new development, will be integrated into Nokia Cell- Phones and probably will change the area of location-based services (LBS) which is the main lines of growth of cellular marketing.

2008: Top Breakthroughs

Posted by admin on Jan 2, 2009 in Cameras, Cellular, Computers

1) Android: HTC G1 phone has lot of disadvantages if you look on some other solutions, but the most important news that we got with this phone is the free mobile operating system from Google- Android. The HTC G1 is only the first of many phones that will use it in the near future. As it looks, the Android has high potential to take the cell phone industry to very intersting place where large developer community will support it growing.

USB Connection

2) USB 3.0: The Universal Serial Bus (USB) is very popular standard for transferring data from PC to many kind of devices and charging PDAs/Phones. These days there was major update in the standard, which will get 10 times faster rate than the current USB 2.0 (4.8 gigabits per second). Another improvement will increase the amount of electrical current that USB cable will deliver ( 900 milliamps instead of 100 milliamps), and this will allow more devices to be charged faster.

camera

3) Video-Capable SLRs: This year the camera industry overcome major limitation that prevent high-end single-lens reflex cameras to shoot video. Two new cameras Nikin D90 and Canon 5D Mark II shoot HD video and capture top notch still images.

Did you get iPhone already?

Posted by admin on Dec 28, 2008 in Cellular, iPHONE

So, ever since they started selling those iPhones at Wal Mart people can now get them easily, so did a friend of mine who was at a conference at the US. He bought himself one of these (well, actually not at wal mart since he is not living in the US and couldnt commit to the cellular plan they were offering) and after returning he was trying to unlock iPhone, he was trying to do it through a guy his brother knew, didnt work for some reason, so he was searching the net for a solution. So, basically, the thing you need to know, there are a lot of sites dealling with the all issue of unlocking iPhones, but, just keep in mind before you buying something, not all of them will unlock your 3g iPhone, so pay attention to it. Anyway, he then found out a site all about how to unlock iPhone 3g, it worked this time so if you are looking to unlock your iPhone, even the new 3g’s, there are things that already works perfecly.

iPHONE Wannabe’s

Posted by admin on Dec 22, 2008 in Cellular, iPHONE

You all familiar with the great iPHONE, smartphone from Apple, but I’m not sure you heard about the iPHONE clones. The basic problem with iPHONE is that Apple and its suppliers sell it with very expensive contract so we try to look for cheaper options with the same look and functionality. You might be surprise to know that there are many of them out there.

.

Two nice clones are the Chinese:

  • HiPHONE: One famous clone is the HiPHONE, the clone is pretty much like iPHONE has the same features except that it runs with windows mobile operating system (nice advantage in my opinion).

.

.

  • CECT P168: another great clone from china (I think it’s better than the iPHONE).  Additional feature that the P168 includes and the iPHONE does not is the support of two SIM cards (although not at the same time).
